Hiking for 14 dog years and my humans still wont stop fussing over my toe beans.
At least every night in the tent and sometimes every time we stop for snack and water, one of them has to poke my paws. Feels kinda nice, like a little massage between my toes.
At some point during the cold season they started putting these booties on my feet.
They felt weird at first, but after a long day of being in the snow, it was a nice break to have a barrier between the snow and my paws.
The very first time my humans put on my Booties was in the backyard, and I DID NOT understand why they were on my paws until they saved me from the cold.
It is nice to take a break from the harsh ground sometimes, even if my paws are strong enough.
The worst thing about the booties is they seemed to get lost in the deep snow really easily. We spent more time than I care to remember looking for a little black bootie in the blankets of snow.
My paws have been on the trail bare and with booties on all types of terrain in every kind of weather. My humans have finally realized that I don’t necessarily NEED anything on my paws during a hike. I have all terrain 4 wheel drive, and the boots only hinder that.
They are however, very nice to have if we are on ruff terrain for an extended period of time. My paws appreciate the break for a short stent of the hike.
The booties are also great to have in case of a paw injury. If I happen to cut, scrape or puncture one of my paws my humans pour water over it, wrap it up in the stretchy tape and then put my boot on. This is the most important use of the booties.
All in all, I’m glad that my humans pack my booties for me, but they are not a necessity unless constant rough terrain calls for it.
Great info re: pup booties! Thank you 😊
