RoxyDoggo has been keeping her head up during these tough times.
With packs packed our latest mountain attempt was canceled the day before we set out.
The unforcasted storm warnings came in the day before we were to drive over the pass further into Eastern Washington, stopping us in our tracks.
It has been hard to actually get our feet on the trail this year due to *fill in the blank* 2020 crappy misfortunes.
It was a good decision not to fight a storm warning on its own and the bad luck that followed us that week would have been worse on a mountain.
During preparation for the hike and the sulking days that followed we had multiple gear items fail on us for no real reason.
We had shoes with near perfect tread bust at the seams. Poles that were fairly new collapse without warning. Backpack straps broke and freshly waterproofed jackets wetted out. Our gear and our personal items seemed to be failing one after another.
It was a week of bad news that felt like it would never end.
Thankfully we weren’t out on a mountain, possibly stuck in a winter storm, when all of this happened.
It wasn’t the adventure we planned, but we still had a good time hanging out with family and playing in the snow. We won’t let 2020 keep us down, we will be out for another adventure soon.
We walked this easy access trail 2 or 3 times a day. It helped keep us sane.
